Merdeka? This year should called “Mereka Cerita”

31 08 2008

Merdeka!
Today is the big day of Malaysia, a lot of bloggers is writing something for celebrating Merdeka, and others, they might be sleeping at home since it is hard to get holiday to rest at home. Although I am not really a blogger(Just write for fun only), but I would like to write something today as well.

If you did follow up the news recently. you might know that the government had blocked a website that belongs to Raja Petra, a famous blogger who write about politic news. He is so famous that he was brought to the court by those politicians whose involved in his articles.

Although I do not know if everything he write is true or not, but I do not see why his website’s domain have to be block. There is no rules in Malaysia stated that censorship is implemented according to the multimedia act. There is a lot of protest saying that since the government has promised there will be no censorship will be implement in order to allow freedom of speech and accessing information that a internet user wanted, this website shouldn’t be block in away way.

Vista Listed in Cnet “Top ten terrible tech products”

30 08 2008

Top 10 terrible tech product
The information was obtained from umarzuki.com
It was so funny when I read that short article.

Here is the original top ten list article from Cnet:

Windows Vista
Any operating system that provokes a campaign for its predecessor’s reintroduction deserves to be classed as terrible technology. Any operating system that quietly has a downgrade-to- previous-edition option introduced for PC makers deserves to be classed as terrible technology. Any operating system that takes six years of development but is instantly hated by hordes of PC professionals and enthusiasts deserves to be classed as terrible technology.

Windows Vista conforms to all of the above. Its incompatibility with hardware, its obsessive requirement of human interaction to clear security dialogue box warnings and its abusive use of hated DRM, not to mention its general pointlessness as an upgrade, are just some examples of why this expensive operating system earns the final place in our terrible tech list.

Blackouts’ for users of pirated Windows
Tuesday August 26, 2008 MYT 8:16:36 PM
By STEVEN PATRICK

PETALING JAYA: Starting Wednesday, users with pirated copies of Microsoft Corp’s Windows XP Professional operating system (OS) on machines that are Internet-capable could find their computer displays going black and with no screen icons visible.

There are 8.6 million users of Win XP Pro in Malaysia and about three million are expected to suffer the “blackouts,” according to Microsoft Malaysia.

To continue working, the user would need to reset the machine’s desktop background. Everything will return to normal. But when 60 minutes are up, the black screen will reappear and the user must go through the whole process again.

This will keep happening until the user licenses the copy of Win XP Pro on the machine by going to a Microsoft reseller or getting a licence online at the www.microsoft.com/malaysia/genuine. Each licence costs RM580.

10 Reasons Why Ubuntu Linux(Desktop) Better than Windows Vista

30 08 2008

WIndows Logo VS Ubuntu Logo

Most probably you have read this 10 points from another blog.
Yes, these points are referred from other Ubuntu supporter’s blogs.

Lots of people may have a misconception that Linux is hard to use, but is that true?
I don’t think so. Those who willing to try Ubuntu Linux (Used to be extreme Windows supporter) also think Ubuntu Linux is easy to use.

The only weak point for Ubuntu Linux is that there is a lot of games not able to run on Linux, Windows have more games. Other than that, Ubuntu do the job very well.
But some games/software which it is Windows based are able to run in Ubuntu Linux using Wine Emulator (Windows Emulator).

Pikom PC Fair – August 2008

Pikom PC Fair – August 2008

I’m sure most of you guys/gals did go to this PC Fair.
And lots of you might bought a laptop from there.

I did go to this PC Fair at last Sunday as well. The traffic around KLCC is damn jam and it is wasting lots of my petrol(Pukimak, petrol also damn expensive). And another thing makes me damn tulan is hard to find place for parking.

Like every time got PC Fair, KL Convention Center is damn crowded. But no choice, since i wanted to go and see if there is something new is shown there or not. Honestly, I am quite disappointed when i I see there is nothing different than I usually walk around in Low Yat(nothing new to see).

Anyway, at least I found that Lenovo is using the Beijing Olympic mascot a lot for promoting their product.
